Brooke Kelley was able to make some time for a very informal email interview with Fr33Agents.com as she tours America with Cat Pratt on their Freedom Ride 2009 project.
Free Agents: Hi Brooke. I’ve heard you call Free Talk Live a couple times talking about Freedom Ride 2009. What is it and when did it begin?
Brooke: Freedom Ride 2009 started on May 25, but my first partner I had, quit on me. He didn’t like the work load, because, well, this IS an over time job. So the Ride resumed on July 28 with a new person–Cat Pratt, and will end in Sept. in New Orleans, the same place the original Freedom Riders ended theirs. The original Riders didn’t make it to New Orleans on the first trip either. They DID make it the second time.
They rode for civil liberties, doing social demonstrations on public transportation. We ride for ALL human rights, and do social demonstrations at every major stop. Each one is different, tailor made to what issues are going on in that area, all dealing with rights violations. Examples on my vlog.
Free Agents: What inspired you to do this and what would you say that your philosophy is, politically speaking?
Brooke: Adam Kokesh inspired me to do this. We became friends in March of this year, and I was like, “So what do you do all the time? Just travel around going to different Patriot events?” And he was like, “yeah, I go speak at them.” And I was like, “Cool. I’m so there.” But from March thru May, I found that there were not enough events to keep me busy. So I set out to create my own. And plus, I get to see Adam at all the main ones, so it totally works out. LOL.
Politically speaking, my philosophy is Love. It’s about Unity and Freedom. I’m constantly being accused of being a Liberal or a Libertarian or even an Anarchist. But I’m perhaps a little of all of those, mixed in with some Conservative, Green Party and the Constitutionalist ideology. Truth is, I have no political party and no religion. I simply believe in Peace.
Free Agents: Besides the predictable stuff two pretty ladies in a sports car get, what kinds of reactions do you receive from the general public? More positive or negative?
Brooke: hahahahahah.
I actually twitted this: FINALLY leaving Canton and Waynesville, NC, having achieved celeb status in only two weeks. We are loved, hated, welcomed and rejected.
… …
It’s just like that. We are loved by those who get to know us. Hated by those who don’t, and many people definitely don’t want to take the time. LOL. Welcomed by friends and rejected by foes. I don’t think anyone doesn’t have an opinion about us.What blasts me is when I’m at a demonstration. (I’m always dressed up somehow), and the look on people’s faces is priceless. They don’t even care that they’re so obviously looking so mad at me for how I dress. It’s funny.
I’d say we get mostly a good reaction.
Free Agents: Priceless. Can you give our readers an example of one of your outfits?
Brooke: I’ve been a pegasus and a porcupine; a cheerleader and a sleepy head; a princess and a pauper. Mostly though, I’m the truth fairy. (Hence the reason why people love me or hate me. LOL.)
Free Agents: Very cool. As you know the Motorhome Diaries crew are members of the Free Agents Network. Their project is very similar to yours. Have you had an opportunity to talk with those guys and exchange notes?
Brooke: Me and Cat keep up with what is going on with them, and we got some time to hang out at Porc Fest. I’m hereby challenging the Motorhome Diaries boys to a duel. We’ve been brainstorming on some ideas and we’ve heard everything from mud wrestling to racing to an eating contest, and are still taking thoughts on it. We’ll have to plan to meet up with them again soon.
Free Agents: A duel would be great. Anyway, staying on the Motorhome Diaries topic. It seems that you have had an experience similar to theirs at the U.S./Canada border. Care to expand on that?
Brooke: I was shocked at what happened to the MD boys because they all had passports. We were going to practice civil disobedience by going with no papers. On the way into Canada, we were heavily interrogated and detained for way too long, but we were so happy to get out of America, that it almost didn’t matter too much. We got to see Montreal! Hit up Ottawa the day after the SPP meeting with questions about NAU, and then spent a second in Toronto and Niagara.
On the way back in the States, I got arrested for asking a question. Cat got arrested for sitting next to the girl who asked a question. Apparently we were impeding an officer from doing his job. Homeland Security is the worst we’ve dealt with so far. Before this, we’re constantly being harassed by County cops. This is a whole new game for us. I had never heard of a no rights zone before we went. How silly of me to assume we have rights in America.
Free Agents: Silly indeed. Oh how far we’ve come… So what’s next for Freedom Ride 2009?
Brooke: Next for Freedom Ride? Me an’ Cat are retreating to the woods to learn how to survive. We’re admittedly clueless on how we’re going to pull this off, (before this trip, I had spent only one night of my life in a tent, and that was my reluctant Girl Scouts outing) but the plan is to learn to fish, hunt, make soap and live on nuts for two solid weeks, cut off from society. At some point, we’re going to be working and living on a farm. We’re headed West and will soon make our way down to Mexico … … …
Freedom Ride is like the Simple Life meets Survivor with a Charlie’s Angel twist, Patriot style. So more of that to come.
Free Agents: If my daughter finds out about this I may never hear from her again. Keep up the good work Brooke and Cat. And keep us up to date on your adventures!
Brooke also wanted me to point out that she is an active participant in the Ladies of Liberty Alliance and that their calendars are available for pre-order.
Brooke: I’ve been a pegasus and a porcupine; a cheerleader and a sleepy head; a princess and a pauper. Mostly though, I’m the truth fairy. (Hence the reason why people love me or hate me. LOL.)
What is a patriot?
Nick you lucky dawg. Why do you get to interview all the pretty ladies?
Brooke you said you challenge us to a duel but you failed to mention the duel? No matter what it is I think Pete and Jason can wait in the RV.
I think my more refined musical taste helps me with the ladies, Adam. No Eddie Murphy on this iPod.
Well, like I said, we had a couple of suggestions. … My favorite is the mud wrestling contest, but I’d also love to have an actual race. haahaha. I doubt y’all would agree to that, since being in a sports car puts us at an unfair advantage. LOL. But I’m up for whatever.
It just seems like we should have a battle of the sexes or something. Cat was talking behind the scenes to try and get our schedules to mesh, and so far, it wasn’t happening. We keep missing y’all by just a bit, but I’m willing to rearrange our schedule to make it happen.
Anyone else have any ideas on things we could do?

pa⋅tri⋅ot
Pronunciation [pey-tree-uht, -ot or, especially Brit., pa-tree-uht]
–noun
1. a person who loves, supports, and defends his or her country and its interests with devotion.
2. a person who regards himself or herself as a defender, esp. of individual rights, against presumed interference by the federal government.
Jason- What else would you call the good people of this movement?
B.
I think it’s funny how Brooke has disregarded her previous “Freedom Rider/Driver” after she was dumped for her violent outburst at Pork Fest.
Peace? Those last few days with Brooke were anything but peaceful.
That Rider was me.
The tweet about canton was posted when I was with her, not cat, and we were in a black toyota.
She spent over 1 month in the woods with me, during which time I taught her an array of survival techniques. Who taught you how to make a fire?
I would also like to point out that during one of her latest protests she managed to plagiarize one of my ideas for protests without giving even one bit of credit, which is what I always, and only asked for.
I would also like to add that Detention is not the same as Arrest.
Brooke is selling you an image, maybe you should find someone who is SANE and worth your time invested.
Seriously.
If you choose to delete this post, know you are no better than “the man.”
ps
the work load entailed driving brooke into town so she could sit in a coffee shop all day, and browse the intranetz.
Yeah, that was really hard. Thats why I quit… give me a break.
@brooke, you asked: “What else would you call the good people of this movement?”
Not patriots. At least not the movement I’m involved with. Rights don’t depend on where you are standing or where you were born. For example, someone born in North Korea has the same rights as you or me. I’m interested in the freedom movement, not some patriot movement that wants rights for some in imaginary lines at the expense of others.
Update, second rider is gone. I wonder why? I’m sure Brooke will come up with some excuse blaming everything on the rider.
@Jason, RIGHT ON!
